* Architectural Design and 3D Printing Best Practices
by Scott Harmon, Vice-President of Z Corp.
Major trends are increasingly impacting the architectural design process and
having a fundamental impact on the way product designers create new products
across many diverse industries. Improvements in architectural design software
like DataCAD and in 3D printing technology have set the stage for significant
changes in how architects create, sell and implement their designs. We will
discuss these trends and how your practice can benefit from them.
* 3D Model Challenge
Z Corp has received several model files exporting directly
from the DataCAD program for 3D printing (e.g. creating a solid model). We will
see how well these models come out compared to the CAD files
(The Models will be raffled off lucky attendees!)
* Urban Infill
by Mark Madura, DataCAD President and CEO
The next free update to DataCAD 12.07.00 includes twenty minor enhancements in
response to requests from members of the DataCAD Forum. In addition,
theinterface for rendering activities such as loading materials, editing
materials, and assigning materials has been modularized for ease-of-use and
consistency. Mark will present these latest features, and using a 15-story,
250,000 s.f. high rise as an example, showing how he modeled the building using
smart entities and other 3D tools.
Note: AIA Members & Massachusetts Registered Architects can earn 3 CEU credits
for attending.
