DBUG> Re: Printers
Hi,
I am back inn the office so I can tell you what we have. The 13x19
(super B) inkjet is the HP Business 2800 Inkjet. We have a 42" wide HP
Designjet
800 for full scale plots.
The route I took was to require that a Continuous Ink System(CIS) had to
be available for a particular printer or plotter, for it to be considered.
Available thru:http://www.macroenter.com/Continuous_Ink_Systems_s/504.htm
The ink tanks are easy to refill with ink that you buy from them in bulk
at a small fraction of the cost of cartridges. Both machines use the same
ink. Both have one black and three color cartridges.
It just burned me to have to buy cartridges at $25 each to replace the
ink.
We also have a Konica-Minolta color laser (8 1/2X 11) that I have given
up on because of its need for only Minolta toner cartridges(because of chips
in the cartridges) that couldn't be refilled and the 4 together cost as must
as the machine. It made a bunch of noise when it printed, like it was
stamping out car parts, and often gave error messages that said the toner
cartridge
wasn't loaded when it was. In my opinion a POS.

I saw your blog on the DBUG bulletin board. I too am interested in
obtaining a new printer just for my CAD plots. I spend a lot of money in time
and
material obtaining plots and would like to get a printer that prints at least
18 inch width. I am not sure if HP makes one like this but I would be
interested. The ink cartridges are very expensive, but I found a site that
sells
them for about 25% of the ones you buy in the store. The site is called INK 4
ART and I have had pretty good luck with them. I currently use a canon
printer that has 4 different ink cartridges: black, red, blue and yellow. When
one
runs out you simply replace that one as opposed to the 4 in one cartridges
where one color goes and you throw it away. You indicated you found a
different system that cost about $100 that I presume you refill. I would be
interested in knowing what this system is all about as well as the printer
info.>>>>>>>>>
