When you consider that Autocad to Autocad transfers within an office are sometimes fraught with peril, brace yourself, but hope for the best. If the engineer has done this often
enough, you should have a drawing in a flavor that Datacad (and older versions of Autocad) can read. If not, ask for "2000i" or earlier.
Actually, v12 can import (and can now export) up to R2007-R2009. ;-)
