Re: DBUG> exporting dwg
To follow up on my exporting and the rest of my day. I never could get a
dwg converted. But about 15 minutes before the work day was to end. I
noticed that my Esc. key wasn't refreshing my screen anymore. So I thought
I would try a reboot to straighten things out. Well the computer just kept
rebooting, never getting to windows, and then would reboot again. So I
called Dell tech support, and they had me run the hard drive diagnostics.
Everything looked ok, and I had to set the computer back to it's original
configuration. The way it was two days ago when it was delivered. There
went all the time I spent installing software, and todays work. Should
have backed up one minute sooner.
After reinstalling the original software and set up, I set the video
display and rebooted the computer. Same problem all over again. It will
only reboot to Safe Mode, or shuts itself down. Now I get to run the
diagnostics all over again, and if that doesn't work, looks like a reformat
of the HD and such tomorrow. Then reinstall software. Looks like this
weeks shot.
Has anyone converted files to dwg in Windows98 successfully? I'm not sure
if that caused the problem or is because of a problem.
Oh well, looking forward to tomorrow.

Jim and others
It is my experience that when writing a dwg file from dcad8win with
long file names you get this error.
If this is the case rename the file using the old 8 digit format,
exit DataCAD and restart. Load the renamed drawing and try again - It
should work.
What happens is that with the long file name, DataCAD when writing
the dwg file looks for a short name truncated i.e name~1.swp but
cannot find this file (long file.swp file name).
hope this helps
