Question: Would it work if you were using your fax machine to send from an
outside line?

It's worth a try to see if the protocols are compatible -- my gut sense is that
maybe they aren't, if the other signals seem to be okay as you describe. If you
can successfully send from another phone line into your FaxWorks phone line,
then I would hope that it just a matter of getting the manual receive
configuration right -- but if your paper went through and it received something
but didn't display any image (was a file created? if so try importing it to send
out) it doesn't sound hopeful.

I am using WinFax Lite (freebie software) combined with a Sharp UX-110 (another
oldie). When I first tried this way back when, I was suckered into buying a
little black box with a red light on it that said when the fax was being sent,
but I realized that the box had no other function but as a timing one.

Good luck! If you can get it to work (even from another phone line) it is a
handy little trick.
