Currupt layer?

While working on a file, I drew a 2 pt arc then did a parallel offset of it. 
When I went to erase it I got the error message: "DATACAD (internal
diagnostics) fault 33 error from: 8082".  Had to reboot. After many trials I
realized I can neither work on this layer OR delete OR erase it. I finally
disabled it by turning the layer off, but I can't get rid of it.  What
happened? Can anyone suggest a solution?  At this point I'd be glad to just
delete the layer, but every time I try I get the error message and the
program exits to C:\ prompt.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
