Macros, Cadkey, Bill R

Kaplan/Fornaro Network/Layer Macro -
This sounds like a real winner. Is it going to be real?

Cadkey -
Yes, I'm very impatient too, but I guess I could wait 6-10 months, maybe
a year, if I knew that Cadkey had a good product. It seems unbelievable
that CADkey would be able to have a windows product out the door in a
year but maybe they've been doing some work and it is closer than we can
concieve. There is no question that Windows 95 or NT are going to be
required (at least in my mind). Anyone tried NT with current Windows
programs? How fast is it now?

Another possibility is to get current DataCAD more friendly with Windows,
using windows drivers and memory management, etc. It know this is
possible, but it might require tearing our pascal version apart, or using
a C version of DataCAD that I understand was never released. It might
just be better to go for the fully rewritten Windows Version though.
--Maybe we should just wait for the experts (CADkey) to do what is best.
After tremendous disappointment for the last few years, I really think
CADkey will deliever, and they need our help and encouragement (positive
outlook) because they really do understand how to write good software.

Thanks to Evan for uploading the DBUG notes from The Gleason
Partnership's Build Boston DBUG meeting. (It could have been edited
though.) I will always remember Bill, and think of his approach to
computers. If there is a miracle, and he is found alive, I will be very
grateful.
