3=d modelling
we've been modelling sites on dcad using evan's method desicribed in Cheap Tricks for a few years. One problem is the max number of vertices
allowed in a horiz slab (32, I believe). You have to be careful to keep count
on a compolex contour. A macro to convert contours to models would be great.
Re roads, etc., we use 3-d lines and try to keep them above the slabs they cross. this is a pain, but otherwise they get hidden
Re the need for read/write of .dwg - - we exchange dxf files with several engineers generally without difficulty. I don't see that a direct .dwg would be any
better unless for some reason it was more bug-free. But I assume that
a new .dwg utility would take years to make bug-free! What an optimist!
We're located in Bucksport, Maine (between
bangor and Bar Hfarbor) and would be happy to host a meeting of dbug if the distance is not overwhelming. Been using DCAD for 6 years.
Excuse the typos and line mess-ups. We are new to e-mail.
