M Davies departure, et al
Comments about the dearth of (or slowness of) development in what
should be the outstanding CAD product in the market hit the target, I
believe. I mourn the passing of the POTENTIAL I once thought M Davies
represented for the development of this product, although the actual
development other than the welcome price reduction is hard to find.
As an adjunct Professor of architecture, it's hard to watch our
students captured by other products that are far more capable in 3-D
modeling, or are sold more agressively to the schools, or are used
simply because those employment ads specificy capability on one specific
software package. We are losing out in the future right here, friends.
I've been using DataCAD for something like 8 years, and have persuaded
a good many others to try the package. I've been waiting for a capable
windows version, capable of swapping files and data with other software,
for four years. I'm now about to move to another package, and I know of
several others who have already done so.
DataCAD used to show such promise...now, it's so far behind the curve.
