DBUG> When is Absolute Zero not Absolute Zero?
I just received a dc5 file from a draftsman who is working on a project
for me. I needed to pop in a couple of details which were
stickybacked. So I placed the detail using AbsZero, while the floor
plan was still visible. I Recalc'd and noticed that the floor plan was
about 500 feet at approximately 315 degrees from where the detail was
placed. I then changed input to absolute polar and drew a line starting
at 0,0 and found that the line started at the lower left corner of the
plan, not at the center of the recently placed detail.
After a bit of head scratching, I realized that the draftsman had
changed the settings to fixed reference and made the reference point the
corner of the plan.
So this simple piece of advice: maybe if you are having a really hard go
with offbeat dimensions and angles, maybe the drawing is not really at
absolute zero. You can check that Settings>FixedRef is on and toggled
to AbsZero then turn FixedRef off (if FixedRef is on then turn off then
on again to see the F1 - AbsZero toggle). Just turning FixedRef off
will retain the previous relative reference point as absolute zero when
entering Absolute Polar or Absolute Cartesian (0,0 or Return,Return).
