This is usually called a "merge" function.  You may have a toggle in the 
printer control panel for it -- turn it *on* to get the black to overwrite 
the gray lines.  Or, you may have to put the lightest gray line as Pen #1 and 
have Pen #2 be slightly darker, and Pen #3 be a very fine black line -- in 
other words lightest to darkest in ascending order.
