Regarding the *.$$$ file: That file is actually just an "in use" marker,
nothing more. Note that it is only like 1KB. It contains no drawing data.

DataCAD works with five files:

*.DC5
*.BAK
*.SWP
*.ASV
*.$$$

The first four have useful data in them. The last is the marker file.

If something crashes, there is a possibility that info can be recovered from
the ASV file, mayyyybe from the SWP file. If there was NOT a crash, then
neither should be in existence. BAK's are created by forced saves. Any of
these 4 might contain the corruption, by the way.
