I wind up exporting groups of layers in part to avoid this problem. I have
sets of layers called Site, Building, Interior, Signs, etc. This also allows
these groups to be imported into Renderize as Nodes. This is very helpful
for setting object properties for the whole group (render backface, etc.)
and also for adding objects to views.
